The year 2018 is drawing to a close. And even though we are already working at full speed on the #EISENWARENMESSE2020, in this article we look back once again on the highlights of the INTERNATIONAL HARDWARE FAIR 2018.  

    Once again this year, the expert juries were spoilt for choice: four winners of the EISEN-AWARD had to be selected from a total of twelve nominations.
    The EISEN CSR-Award powered by BHB (Handelsverband Heimwerken, Bauen und Garten e.V.) went to KNIPEX-Werk C. Gustav Putsch KG.
    The Innovation Award 2018 powered by ZHH (Central Association of the Hardware Trade) was presented to three companies and went to them:
  • HAZET-Werk Hermann Zerver GmbH & Co. KG (HiPer fine tooth reversible ratchet 916HP – 1000Nm, 90 teeth),
  • KNIPEX-Werk C. Gustav Putsch KG (KNIPEX wire rope shears 95 62 160) and
  • Wiha Werkzeuge GmbH (Wiha SpeedE).
  1. The exhibitors
    2,770 suppliers from 58 countries came to Cologne. Decision-makers from all over the world used the number 1 in the hardware industry to discover new products, innovations and trends.
  2. The trade visitors
    Over 47,000 trade visitors from 143 countries: With an increase in the number of trade visitors of 9 percent, especially from abroad (an increase of 19 countries), the trade fair once again gained in internationality.
  3. The trend theme of digitisation
    A comprehensive event programme was offered to all visitors of the INTERNATIONAL HARDWARE FAIR. Highlights were the two-day dSummit with lectures and exhibitors in the environment of the EISENforum.
  4. The Start-up Village
    The Start-Up Village at the INTERNATIONAL HARDWARE FAIR 2018 offered visitors creative solutions for young, agile entrepreneurs presenting the digital business of tomorrow.
  5. Special Show “3D Printing – Additive Manufacturing”
    The special show “3D Printing – Additive Manufacturing” was one of the eye-catchers at the INTERNATIONAL HARDWARE FAIR 2018. The exhibits presented covered a wide range of applications: from bicycle frames and furniture to innovative door locks and other small parts as well as design prototypes for tools.
  6. DIY Boulevard
    Once again, Koelnmesse, in cooperation with the manufacturers’ association Haus & Garten e.V., offered DIY suppliers a presentation area at the INTERNATIONAL HARDWARE FAIR.
  7. The exhibition area
    On 144,000 m² visitors and exhibitors were offered enough space for exciting and intensive discussions about trends and challenges.
  8. Various product ranges
    The INTERNATIONAL HARDWARE FAIR once again offered all visitors a wide range of interesting products:
    – hand tools, power tools and accessories, machine tools
    – Workshop and factory equipment/Industrial supply, protection equipment
    – Fastening and fixing technology, building and furniture fittings
    – Interiors and furnishings, sanitary ware and fittings, chemical products, building materials, -elements, -accessories and outside structures, Automotive supplies and accessories, two-wheeler accessories, smart home
    – Industry services
  9. HARDWARE Forum
    On the central stage of the EISENWARENMESSE, the EISENforum, the first two days of the fair were devoted to the topic of digitisation. In addition, service providers, solution providers and portal operators exhibited in the direct vicinity of the EISENforum and were available during the entire EISENWARENMESSE as contact persons for visitors and exhibitors.
