Smart Home Security: Intelligent protection for buildings

First Smart Home and now Smart Home Security: Read here which digital solutions manufacturers offer for intelligent building protection.

The world is becoming digital – and with it the security technology for buildings. Although anti-lift devices for roller shutters or security locks are still a tried and tested means of increasing security against unauthorised intrusion for many people, the trend is towards so-called smart home security, and the demand for intelligent, networked solutions is increasing. A pleasant side effect: The digitization of the home or commercial building can also provide more comfort by automating and remotely controlling gates, shutters, lights and many other smart home products. Because intrusion detection, video surveillance and access control technologies or systems that react to fire, gas and water require comprehensive networking, and this can also form the basis for intelligent technologies that make life easier. In addition, smart control technology can save heating costs and energy.

Clever combination

However, the decision for a system or a manufacturer can take quite a long time, because the range on the market is diverse and complex. And communication between products from different suppliers does not always run smoothly. It is therefore all the more pleasing when the networking also functions perfectly in such a case. And that is why four major German brand manufacturers have joined forces to form the “Smart Friends” initiative. Smart Friends is a cooperation between ABUS, Schellenberg, Paulmann Licht and STEINEL. The goal is the joint development of a future-proof and expandable Smart Home platform. Together they offer over 75 radio-based products in the fields of lighting, safety, heating control and drive technology with which buildings can be made smarter step by step. The central interface in the Smart Friends concept is the Smart Friends Box. This is integrated into the existing local network via network cable. You can access to the box by using an app for smartphones and tablets with iOS or Android operating system. The box itself then sends the signal to the connected products – also called actuators – and triggers the desired actions. It is also possible to integrate a voice control system. This way nothing stands in the way of a house with all-round security and a high level of comfort at the same time.
