Global DIY-Summit 2013

The second Global DIY Summit takes place on 6 – 7 June 2013 in Rome and has a line-up of top speakers, several of whom on day one will address the challenges to be faced by the rapid advent of digital markets. They include Ian Cheshire (Group CEO, Kingfisher), Sergio Giroldi (CEO, Obi) and Carlos Wulf (CEO, Easy), who will relate their experience with the multi-channel business. Representing the internet economy is Alastair Bruce (Director Google Germany), who will describe how the DIY-player can take best advantage of the web. His presentation will be entitled: ‘Making the web work for you’.

The second day will focus on ‘International DIY Markets’ (Australia, New Zealand, Russia, USA and current DIY-hotspots), and ‘Innovation; more important than ever’. The speakers include Paul Loft (CEO, Homebase UK), Henning von Boxberg (President, Bosch Power Tools Germany) and Dr. Nektarios Bakakis (CEO, Knauber Germany). The full DIY-summit programme and registration details are available on the official home page.

The summit will also be the occasion for presentation of a DIY-Lifetime Award to Manfred Maus, one of the original founders of the DIY-business; also co founder of Obi, for many years chief executive and chairman of the supervisory board. The Global DIY-Summit 2013 is organised by EDRA (European DIY-Retail Association), fediyma (European Federation of DIY Manufacturers) and GHIN (Global Home Improvement Network).
